The PH 5 hanging light – a classic by Poul Henningsen that provides completely glare-free lighting

The PH 5 designer hanging light offers a wonderful lighting experience: three shades made of drawn aluminium direct the light downwards, whilst a trumpet-shaped top shade directs the light out to the sides, so that when switched on, the light illuminates itself and the area around it without any unwanted glare.

The triple shade fitted to the pendant light is based on the designs of Poul Henningsen, the renowned Danish designer who created products for Louis Poulsen from 1925 until his death in 1967. Louis Poulsen is a long-established Danish company specialising in the manufacture of designer lights developed in keeping with the principle of ‘form follows function’. For over 100 years, Louis Poulsen has been producing quintessentially Scandinavian lighting solutions; some models have been available for decades and are regularly reissued. 2018 marks the 60th anniversary of the PH 5. To mark the occasion, new colour combinations of this classic luminaire have been launched.
