Kartell Light-Air table lamp, black, height 32 cm

Light-Air – the table lamp that seems to float

The defining stylistic feature of the Light-Air table lamp, alongside its minimalist design, is the illusion that the lampshade appears to float within the frame. The conical lampshade, like the frame itself, is made of thermoplastic technopolymer and, in combination with the frame-like structure, exudes a touch of minimalism.

Designer Eugeni Quitllet developed a series of lights for the design firm Kartell, based in Noviglio, near Milan. Plastic in all its forms and colours is the basic material from which the designer pieces are made – pieces that have made Kartell famous over the past few decades. Some of Kartell’s furniture and lighting pieces have now become design classics and can be found in various modern museums.
