Industrial Wall Lights
Add vintage charm to your home
Industrial wall lights might look at home in industrial interiors, but you don’t have to live in a warehouse conversion to enjoy them. Whether you live in the city, suburbs or countryside, lights in an industrial style add a vintage, rustic charm to your home.
What are the distinguishing features of industrial wall lights?
Industrial style wall lights add a touch of rustic, vintage charm by combining metal and functional shapes to create a cosy, homely feel. They’re perfect for industrial interiors and look eye-catching in clean, modern homes and apartments.
Peeling paint and rustic design create a ‘used’ look.
Wall lights with tubes or valves really stand out in modern interiors.
Many prefer functional wall sconces with a touch of vintage style.
Black, chrome, grey, white and brass are perfect finishes for industrial style wall lights.
Rust looks authentic but should be alternated with different vintage materials.
A pastel colour palette actually enhances the vintage look of an industrial wall light.
Which bulbs are effective in industrial wall lights?
Despite their cool metal housing and intentional nooks and crannies, industrial wall sconces are made to create homely, cosy light.
That's why we recommend:
a warm white light colour of less than 3,300 Kelvin for living rooms
a colour rendering index of at least Ra 80 to reproduce rich, clean colours
LED bulbs to create energy efficiency, cost savings and switching stability
As for the design of the LED bulb, that’s down to your personal preferences and the desired outcome you’re looking to create.
Filament bulbs create a nostalgic look. Matt or head mirror bulbs throw out indirect light. For those who prefer dimmable, colour-changing light, there are smart bulbs available that can be smartphone or voice-controlled.
Filament bulbs highlight the vintage character of industrial wall lights.
Wall lights with a matt bulb make industrial-style lamps look even more modern.
How do you fit industrial wall lights?
Industrial wall lights are real eye-catchers due to their unconventional look. As a wall light, they should be placed at eye level, at a mounting height of around 5 cm above eye level. As a rule, this results in a mounting height of 1.70 m to 1.80 m from the ground.
It’s essential to avoid glare. Industrial-style wall lights should therefore be positioned with a downward tilt to prevent people from looking directly into the light.
During installation, the instructions in the user manual and the safety instructions must be observed. We recommend that the installation is carried out professionally by an electrician.
The wall reflects the light of the wall lamp, which means the lampshade is integral to the room’s general lighting.
Lights can also be individually placed and aligned, such as above the bedside table in the bedroom.
Are there industrial wall lights with switches and cables?
Many plug-in wall lights have a switch directly on the housing. Wall lights with plugs are easy to install too. With these, only a socket and mounting on the wall is needed.
In the case of plug-in wall lights, the switch is often mounted directly on the housing.
Wall lights with cables often have the switch on the supply line.
