Plissé-style plastic lampshade: Gè LED pendant light by Kartell
In terms of shape, the lampshade of the Gè pendant light has a very classic design. It tapers slightly towards the top. What makes it so modern and innovative, however, is that it looks like a plissé-style lampshade, yet is made entirely of plastic rather than fabric. Its transparency and pleat-like structure create a radiant glow that provides general lighting and a pleasant atmosphere in the room.
Among the best-known design pieces from the Milan-based company Kartell are, for example, a children’s chair known as the K 1340 and the KS 1481 lemon squeezer. In the field of lighting, the Model 4006 by Achille and Piergiacomo Castiglioni from 1959 and the Tic Tac series serve as the company’s flagship products and are highly recognisable. Many of the Milan-based company’s designer pieces have not only received various awards but, despite their relatively recent creation, can already be admired in museums and are considered modern classics.
