Orient™ pendant light with organically shaped aluminium shade
The Orient™ pendant light was designed by Jo Hammerborg in 1963 and has lost none of its stylistic presence. A pendant light whose aluminium shade is individually handcrafted in a wooden mould to create its organic shape, it is ideal for illuminating a dining table or counter, for example.
Jo Hammerborg (1920-1982) trained as a silversmith, took part in Denmark's fight for freedom as a saboteur from 1940 to 1945, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and worked as head of design at lighting manufacturer Fog&Mørup from 1957 to 1980. During this time, he created more than 180 lights, which were characterised by his clear design philosophy and his enormous understanding of form, function and aesthetics. For decades, his creations were only available from antique dealers. In 2013, the traditional Danish company FRITZ HANSEN, together with Jo Hammerborg's family, decided to reissue the Orient™ pendant light.
For almost 150 years, FRITZ HANSEN has been a guarantee for products of high craftsmanship and exclusive design.
