FM1954 pendant light - a timelessly beautiful design classic by Friis and Moltke Many decades have passed since the Danish designers Knud Friis and Elmar Moltke Nielsen created the FM1954 pendant light, and yet it has lost none of its appeal with its classic yet timelessly beautiful look. The light, which was created in 1954, consists of a wide lampshade made of steel and painted, a black ceiling canopy and a suspension cable covered in black fabric. In 1954, the year FM1954 was born, the two architects and designers also founded their joint Studio Friis and Moltke. They were the first to introduce "mild brutalism" to building in Denmark in the 1960s - with large building constructions in the middle of the landscape, raw concrete walls and visible technical installations.
