Indirect room lighting – Foscarini Aplomb wall light

The cone-shaped Aplomb wall light is made of concrete and is cast from a special mixture mixed with colour pigments in a liquid state. The otherwise grey nature of concrete is cleverly reinterpreted here with colours, thus making the leap from the world of construction, where the material is otherwise used, to its use as a decorative light. Since the material would otherwise completely shield the light, the shape of the Aplomb wall light is designed to have a very wide opening at the top and a narrower one at the bottom. The top provides sufficient bright light, which is reflected by the wall and ceiling. The light from the narrow opening at the bottom forms a sophisticated cone of light, creating a decorative effect.

The impressive Aplomb series of lights was designed by Milanese designers Paolo Lucidi and Luca Pevere, who have developed several lighting collections for the manufacturer Foscarini. The Aplomb model cleverly combines elements of architecture and design.
