Chanpen dimmable table lamp with a lampshade made from banana hemp
The lampshade of the Chanpen table lamp is perfectly circular, making it rather reminiscent of a full moon – which is what ‘Chanpen’ translates as. The lampshade is covered with fibres of banana hemp, also known as abacá. The diagonally running fibres create a diamond pattern reminiscent of the cut of a diamond. Chanpen is dimmable using the rotary dimmer integrated into the base.
The designer Anon Pairot developed a series of lights called Chanpen for the French lighting manufacturer Forestier. He has previously worked for well-known brands such as Fendi, Habitat and Grohe, and at Forestier he was able to indulge his preference for working with natural materials and design Chanpen, a light made from hemp.
