This pendant light, which is also very attractive when switched off, is part of a series of 30 lights with three-part lampshades, which originated in the creation of the three-part lampshade in 1925/26 by Poul Henningsen.

Poul Henningsen, who worked with the Danish light company Louis Poulsen from 1925 until his death, was interested in creating lights with glare-free light, soft shadows and a light cone directed to the right place. Over the years, he created pendant, table, floor and wall lights as well as chandeliers in a wide variety of variations, totalling approximately 1,000 models. The numbers refer to the size of the lampshade segments. The lampshade of the PH 4 1/2-4 pendant light consists of an upper element with a diameter of 45 centimetres and two smaller segments from the 4/4 model. The handblown 3-layer glass has a glossy finish on the outside and a matt sandblasted finish on the inside, creating an impressively soft, glare-free light that not only provides fabulous illumination of the surroundings but also creates a cosy atmosphere.
