Each product from the Danish light manufacturer LE KLINT is unique due to its handmade production and must be handled with care to ensure that the light provides long-lasting pleasure and is not damaged. Comet is a design by the architect Poul Christiansen, who was largely responsible for the further development of LE KLINT's famous folding technique in the 1970s and 1980s. Until then, folds had only been made in straight lines, but Christiansen discovered that folding in mathematical curves could give the lights beautiful rounded shapes. The designer lights from LE KLINT can look back on a long tradition. As early as the beginning of the 20th century, the first folding shades - which are still the company's trademark today - were produced by hand by the renowned family of architects, before the company was officially founded in 1943 and the first shop opened in Copenhagen, which still opens its doors to customers at the same address today. Over the following decades, several other models with design character and recognition value were developed in cooperation with other architects and designers, although the Klassiks from the 1940s are still among the lighting manufacturer's bestsellers today. The manufacturer sees itself as a modern production company with a strong connection to traditional craftsmanship, as the lampshades are still folded by hand in the production facility in Denmark because, despite many efforts, no machine could be developed that could fulfil the quality requirements of the characteristic cross-folding technique.
