Pleated, yet not made of fabric – the lampshade of the Gè pendant light captivates with a texture reminiscent of typical pleated fabrics, such as a classic pleated skirt. However, the slightly conical lampshade is not made of fabric; it is made entirely of plastic. The black exterior and golden interior also create a shimmering light effect, which is intensified by the golden inner surface.
Kartell, based near Milan, is renowned for its plastic-made everyday objects, which include furniture, kitchen utensils and lights. Since the 1950s, both national and international designers have been working for Kartell. Over the decades, the Italian design firm has not only received numerous awards for its products but has also established its own museum, intended to preserve the company’s intellectual and material legacy.
