Multi-Lite designer floor lamp: a versatile, adjustable source of supplementary light

What makes this floor lamp from Gubi so special is the design of its lampshade. The various metal elements – two quarter-spheres and two cylinders positioned in the centre – can be rotated around one another so that the light emitted by the chosen bulb either shines downwards, is directed indirectly upwards into the surrounding space, or is emitted asymmetrically. This allows you to create a cosy atmosphere in the seating area of the living room, for example, which can be adapted to suit your needs at any time.

Louis Weisdorf is the creative mind behind the Multi-Lite design. The light exemplifies the versatility that the Danish designer has achieved throughout his career across a wide range of fields. After graduating from the Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen in 1954, Weisdorf worked in the construction industry, amongst other things, and from 1961 to 1971 at the Tivoli amusement park in Copenhagen, where he held the position of chief assistant to the chief architect. In the late 1960s, he set up his own studio in Copenhagen.
