Foscarini Rituals – handblown glass ceiling light

The Rituals ceiling light from the premium Venetian lighting brand Foscarini is as thin and delicate as a Japanese paper lantern. This rice paper effect is created by the filigree groove pattern that runs horizontally across the lampshade of the ceiling light. In fact, Rituals is not made of paper, but of high-quality, handblown opal glass. The grooves in the glass surface are created using a special industrial process based on the craft of glass grinding. The glass is not turned in the mould and is given its special decoration by a negative pattern in the casting mould.

The fine grooves create a stunning play of light and shadow on the ceiling and surrounding walls. The simple, almost style-neutral design of the ceiling light allows for a wide range of applications. Rituals can be easily combined with other types and sizes of lights from its family to create an even greater impression as an ensemble.

Since 1994, the designer couple Ludovica + Roberto Palomba have had their own design studio in Milan. They work for many international brands and have already received numerous awards, including the Compasso d'Oro, a well-known Italian industry prize.
