Foscarini Magneto - futuristic LED table lamp with magnetically adjustable head Foscarini's Magneto LED table lamp is a powerful attraction in the truest sense of the word. With its sleek, purist look, it offers maximum technical flexibility. The centrepiece and technical trick of this table lamp is a spherical super magnet made of rare earths, which connects the Basis to the head. Rare earths, also known as rare earth metals, include the 17 chemical elements of the 3rd subgroup of the periodic table as well as the lanthanides. The magnetic sphere serves as a joint, allowing the head, which is made of solid-coloured ABS, to be moved to new positions and heights at any time. One side of the base rod, which is made of steel coated with epoxy resin, has recesses into which the magnetic sphere is perfectly integrated. This allows the head of the luminaire, which houses the LED light source, to be turned up, down, left and right, so that the direction of the pinpoint light cone can always be adapted to the situation at hand. Magneto therefore not only provides direct illumination of a table surface for reading or working, but also indirect, partial room lighting when the head is turned towards the ceiling. The function of the table lamp is therefore almost similar to that of a torch, whose beam of light can also be very precisely directed. Magneto is switched on and off using a switch located on the black cable. The cable is partially visible inside the stem and, apart from the magnet, is the only element that connects the stem and head. Italian industrial designer and art director Giulio Iacchetti designed Magneto in 2011 for the renowned Foscarini brand. Among other things, Iacchetti became known for finding and defining new types of objects.
