The elongated lampshade of the Chouchin Bianco 2 LED pendant light, designed by French designer Ionna Vautrin for the Italian lighting company Foscarini, is made of blown, opal-white glass. Vautrin drew inspiration for the design of the Chouchin series of lights from traditional Japanese lanterns, which are made of paper or bamboo and hung outside houses as good-luck charms or as illuminated signs outside establishments. The lampshade, which features an E27 socket, is fitted with a warm white LED bulb. Light is emitted directly through the lower opening of the lampshade, whilst the opal glass surrounding it provides soft general lighting. Whether in a private living room or dining room, the kitchen, or in restaurants and cafés above counters or tables – the Chouchin pendant light is suitable for a wide range of applications. Particularly when combined with several different shapes and colours, it creates impressive decorative lighting.
