Chouchin 2 opal glass pendant light from Foscarini with warm white LEDs The rounded cylinder-shaped lampshade of the Chouchin 2 LED pendant light, a luminaire creation by French designer Ionna Vautrin for Italian manufacturer Foscarini, is made entirely of blown, opal white glass. Traditional Japanese lampions not only inspired Vautrin to design the Chouchin luminaire series, but also gave it its name. In Japan, the lanterns are traditionally hung as illuminated signs in front of restaurants or as lucky charms in front of houses, whereas the Couchin luminaire series illuminates interiors with its light radiating on all sides and tables or counters directly through the lower shade opening. The LEDs built into the lampshade emit warm white light and, thanks to the good colour rendering index (Cri Cri > 90), ensure that paintings, for example, are well presented.
