He is one of the most influential designers of Scandinavian functionalism and still characterises the design language of modern architecture and lighting today. Jacobsen has been honoured internationally with numerous design awards and honorary doctorates. After graduating from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1927, Jacobsen founded his own architectural practice in 1929.
