Designer pendant light VP Globe Glass with opal white glass diffusers
The VP Globe Glass model comes from a family of lights designed by Verner Panton in the 1960s and 1970s. Verner Panton (1926-1998) was a Danish architect and designer who, among other things, was a style icon for the Pop Art movement. Plastic as a material and bold colours were a particular source of inspiration for his work. While he is mainly known worldwide for his furniture, such as the Panton Chair, he also designed several significant lighting classics, which are now manufactured by the Danish company VERPAN. Each of these lights comes with a certificate of authenticity and is engraved with Verner Panton's signature.
The spherical pendant lights of the VP Globe are all constructed according to a similar principle. The outer shell consists of a transparent acrylic sphere that reveals the inner workings of the light. Inside the VP Globe Glass are glass reflectors and diffusers of various sizes that influence the direction of the light. They are arranged in such a way that the light escapes to the side as room lighting and is also gently diffused downwards, so that the VP Globe Glass pendant light can also be used above a dining table, for example.
