Verner Panton's Fun 2TM table lamp – made from real mother-of-pearl tiles

Although Danish architect and designer Verner Panton generally liked to use artificial materials in his designs, he made an exception for one of his most famous series of lights, the Fun series, and designed it using real seashells – mother-of-pearl. Chains of varying lengths made of round mother-of-pearl discs hang down from the two metal rings that form the base of the Fun 2TM table lamp. Like a curtain, they shield the bulb so that it does not dazzle.

Fun 2TM not only produces light and is a real gem on the bedside table or side table, but also adds acoustic accents. When the mother-of-pearl chains are set in motion by a gentle breeze, they produce a lovely sound.

Verner Panton (1926-1998) is considered one of Denmark's most important architects and designers. He achieved worldwide fame primarily with his extraordinary pieces of furniture, such as the Panton Chair, the first cantilever chair made entirely of plastic. Verner Panton's lights are all engraved with his name and come with a certificate of authenticity.
