VL45 Radiohus pendant light with beautiful glass shade The VL45 Radiohus pendant light - a design object by Vilhelm Lauritzen - impresses with its beautiful lampshade made of mouth-blown opal glass, which creates a soft and even light distribution. The opening at the base directs the light downwards in a very focussed manner, and the nature of the glass also creates an even illumination of the luminaire surface. VL45 Radiohus can be mounted both high and low without losing any of its striking beauty. The designer Vilhelm Lauritzen (1894-1984) was one of Denmark's most important architects. He created well-known buildings such as the Nørrebro Theatre, the Radiohuset broadcasting centre and Copenhagen's first airport. He consistently incorporated daylight into his architectural designs. But he also knew how to design beautiful lights, combining a strong directional light that casts shadows with a weaker diffuse light that creates nuances. Danish lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen included the first light developed by Lauritzen for the Danish Broadcasting House in its product catalogue in the mid-1940s, and in the 1950s the range expanded in parallel with the designer's major building projects.
