Kaiser idell™ Luxus designer table lamp with matt lacquered, chrome-plated frame

The special feature of this table lamp, which was designed in the 1930s, is its appearance. At that time, the Bauhaus style, in which the Kaiser idell™ series of lights was designed, embodied the dawn of modernism with its characteristic spherical, cylindrical and circular shapes. Even almost a century later, this style has lost none of its fascination. The Kaiser idell™ Luxus table lamp can be placed anywhere, but its asymmetrical lampshade with patented swivel joint makes it ideal for use as a desk lamp. The two-tone design is very decorative. While the lampshade has a matt colour finish, the brass frame shines with an elegant chrome plating. He then studied for two years at the Saxon School of Arts and Crafts in Weimar under Henry van de Velde. Later (1922-1925), he became master craftsman of the metal workshop at the Bauhaus in Weimar. He then took over the management of the Frankfurt Art School. His design style was considered highly innovative and trend-setting.

The Kaiser idell™ Luxus table lamp appeared for the first time in the first idell catalogue in 1936. It quickly became the top model in the Kaiser idell™ series – synonymous with elegant German design, precisely crafted by hand and machine using exquisite materials.

Today, the Kaiser idell™ Luxus table lamp is produced by the Danish company FRITZ HANSEN, a traditional company founded by carpenter Fritz Hansen in 1872, which was family-owned for over 100 years and 75% of which was transferred to Skandinavisk Holding in 1979. The FRITZ HANSEN company stands for the high-quality implementation of designs by well-known designers.
