Floyd pendant light - an interplay of geometry and perspective The material, which is made from numerous layers of paper to form Lunopal, allows the light to shine through faintly, turning Floyd into an evenly illuminated body. Floyd appears to take on a different shape depending on the viewing angle. The geometric body of the oloid was first defined by Paul Schatz in 1929 and finally realised as a pendant light in Floyd by Felix Hediger. The form is based on two intersecting circles; the straight connections between the edges of the circles create ruled surfaces that form the surface of the oloid. In Floyd, the circles are made of cords, while Lunopal stretched between them forms the control surfaces.
