KTribe F2 floor lamp with double lampshade – by designer Philippe Starck

PMMA on the outside, polycarbonate on the inside – this is how the two lampshades of the KTribe F2 floor lamp are designed. The lampshades differ not only in material and shape, but also in their orientation: the inner lampshade is open at the top, the outer lampshade at the bottom. It is the outer lampshade that has the typical, even classic shape of a lampshade: conical, tapering towards the top. The lighting effect is largely determined by these two lampshades.

Philippe Starck, the inventor of this floor lamp, has designed numerous lamps for FLOS and is known for his sometimes very unusual ideas. According to the designer, the KTribe series of lights is the result of the further development of one of his earlier series, the Miss K lighting family. The similarity cannot be entirely dismissed. However, the fusion of one design into another is always associated with evolution, as Starck explains the history of the new lights.
