The OMLED s3 OLED pendant light is manufactured entirely in Germany, with glass playing a key role. It is one of humanity’s oldest materials and has been in continuous use for many millennia. Thanks to its virtually unlimited lifespan, infinite versatility and the fact that it is produced from natural raw materials found in unlimited quantities in nature, glass is the perfect material to serve as a medium for light. With the integrated user interface, the glass acts as a circuit board, rendering a conventional plastic circuit board superfluous and thus enabling a very slim design.

The OMLED One is the world’s first range of luminaires equipped with cutting-edge OLEDs. This ‘organic light-emitting diode’ combines many advantages. The bulb consists of thin layers of organic, semiconducting materials, which in turn are sandwiched between two current-conducting layers. The organic layer emits light as long as current flows. The glass housing serves as both a circuit board and a control element. This is achieved through a manufacturing process developed and patented in Germany, in which conductor tracks, electronic components, contacts and a circuit for making the light dimmable are applied to the high-quality white glass. The glass housing of the OMLED One s3 flat pendant light acts as both a circuit board and a heat sink, with the upper pane serving as the circuit board.

Unlike conventional LEDs, OLEDs emit diffuse light that is non-glare and provides an even light surface that ‘shines’ like daylight in the sky.
