T8 fluorescent tube - versatile lighting solution
A T8 fluorescent tube has been one of the tried and tested lighting solutions in living and work areas for decades. It impresses with its uniform illumination, which is appreciated in private rooms as well as in offices, workshops or public buildings. Thanks to its robust construction and the choice of different light colours, it forms a versatile Basis for different lighting concepts.
Thanks to its standard size, the T8 tube bulb fits into numerous lights with a suitable socket and therefore remains a widely used bulb even today. Whether as a replacement for existing lamps or as part of a modern lighting solution, it combines functionality with a wide range of possible applications.
Properties of a T8 fluorescent tube
With a diameter of 26 millimetres, the T8 fluorescent tube clearly stands out from narrower variants. It offers high luminous efficiency with moderate energy consumption and is available in various lengths. Typical variants range from 60 cm to 150 cm and can be flexibly integrated into different lights.
Various options are also available for the light colour. Warm white is suitable for a cosy atmosphere, cool white has a sober and balanced effect, while daylight white provides very bright lighting. This allows the T8 tube bulb to be specifically adapted to the respective room and its requirements.
Differences between T8 and other fluorescent tubes
Compared to other fluorescent tubes such as T5 or T12, the T8 variant offers an impressive balance of efficiency, brightness and longevity. While T5 tube bulbs are usually more compact and T12 models are considered older, the T8 tube has established itself as the standard. It combines good light output with a large availability of matching sockets and lights.

Fluorescent tube T8 G13 difference
The term G13 refers to the base type of the T8 fluorescent tube. These are two pins, 13 millimetres apart, which securely fix the tube bulb in the socket. This clear standardisation ensures high compatibility with a wide range of lights and facilitates replacement with suitable LED alternatives in the same format.
Areas of application for T8 tube bulbs

Conversion to LED tube bulbs
Converting a classic T8 fluorescent tube to an LED tube bulb has numerous advantages. LED models are significantly more energy-efficient and have a much longer service life, which reduces operating costs in the long term. They also provide full brightness immediately without a warm-up phase and impress with their uniform light distribution.
When retrofitting, it is important to check compatibility with the existing socket and ballast technology. Many LED tube bulbs are specially manufactured for T8 bases, making them easy to replace. This allows existing lighting to be modernised without having to replace entire lights.
LED tube bulb, length 120 cm
An LED tube bulb with a length of 120 cm is one of the most frequently used variants in T8 format. It is particularly suitable for offices, corridors and workshops, as it provides balanced brightness while significantly reducing energy consumption. Thanks to its standardised dimensions, it can easily be used as a replacement for classic fluorescent tubes.

The 150 cm long LED fluorescent tube is ideal for large rooms where strong and even illumination is required. Thanks to its standardised design, it can be easily integrated into existing sockets.
Advantages of modern LED T8 tube bulbs
Modern LED T8 tube bulbs combine high energy efficiency with a long service life. They consume up to 50 % less electricity than conventional fluorescent bulbs and therefore reduce operating costs in the long term. At the same time, they impress with their consistently high quality of light, which is maintained for many years.
Another advantage is the choice of different light colours, ranging from warm white to daylight white. This allows rooms to be specifically illuminated according to mood and function. LED tube bulbs are also mercury-free, which makes them a more environmentally friendly alternative and simplifies disposal.
