How do I attach an external pendant lamp?

As a general rule, outdoor pendant lights are mounted on roofed outdoor areas, e.g. on a terrace or under a canopy.

However, because of the variety of outdoor pendant lights available, there’s no one correct answer. Every light is different, so it’s best to check the assembly instructions before installation (though we’d advise leaving that part to an electrician).

Are there outdoor pendant lights with rechargeable batteries?

If you’re unable to connect your outdoor lamps to a power source, it doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the enjoyment and comfort of outdoor lighting. Instead, why not pick one of the many battery-powered pendant lamps instead?

Personally, we can highly recommend Paulmann outdoor lights, which are chargeable via a USB cable.

What degree of protection do outdoor pendant lights need?

Despite being covered, outdoor hanging lamps are exposed to extreme weather conditions, which is why external lighting has a higher IP (Ingress Protection) rating than their indoor counterparts.

The minimum rating for exterior lights is IP44, which protects them from spraying water and rain.
