Hallway Lighting
Give your hallway the attention it deserves
Hallways are one of the most used spaces in the home, but we often forget to love the place that connects us to the outside world and the rooms where we eat, sleep, laugh and love.
Whether packing the kids off to school, touching up some lipstick or creeping downstairs for a midnight snack, we’ve got a range of ceiling, wall-mounted and motion-sensor lights to brighten up the internal pathways of your home.
Which lights are best for lighting hallways?
There’s no right or wrong answer.
Every hallway is different, be it in width or length, which means lighting will depend on your unique layout.
For many, flush ceiling lights or LED light panels are the ideal choices as, due to their flat design, they can make short or low-ceilinged corridors appear larger or longer. Whereas wall-mounted lights will create an eye-catching talking point, especially those with contemporary designs.
Downlights light areas individually, adding sophisticated elegance to longer hallways, while cable lighting systems are perfect for brightening angled corridors.

LED panels are suitable for corridors with low ceilings.

Contemporary wall lights create a real talking point.

Adjustable downlights illuminate corridors individually.
What are the advantages of using LED lights in hallways?
Okay, we get it, you probably don’t have your hallway light on for lengthy periods of time. But they are areas of the home which see lights regularly switched on and off - especially when you’ve got a house full of kids!
Incandescent bulbs blow easily with excessive switching, unlike LEDs, which are switch-resistant. And, as they achieve 100% brightness immediately, you’ll never smudge your makeup in the mirror or fumble around for your keys in the dark again.

Are motion detectors worthwhile for the hallways?
Although motion detectors aren’t right for every room in the home, one place they are is in hallways.
Not only are they handy for when you enter with bags full of shopping, but they’re also a cool feature for large stairwells at home or in public buildings.
If you choose a motion detector, we’d recommend fitting it LEDs as they achieve 100% brightness immediately, unlike incandescent bulbs.
