LED indoor lighting: long live modern technology!

    LED indoor lighting

Making the switch from conventional light sources to LEDs is similar to switching from VHS and DVD – it’s simply unavoidable. But nobody will mourn the traditional light bulb. At least, not once they’ve seen a real, high-quality LED in action - and a fantastic way to do this is with a light that comes with built-in LED technology.

Lights with build-in LEDs have modern, futuristic designs, because in comparison to protruding, glaring glass bulbs, the light source is almost invisible. If you are still a fan of replaceable light bulbs, we recommend simply screwing an LED bulb into your beloved light and taking advantage of all the benefits of modern LED lighting technology.

After all, it’s not just the appearance of an LED light that’s compelling; they are also eco-friendly and cost-effective. And who doesn’t want that?!

What are the advantages of LED lights?

Everyone is talking about LEDs – and with good reason. Since the invention of the traditional light bulb in 1879, LED lighting technology has perhaps been the most innovative development in the lighting industry. LEDs come from a modern understanding of lighting – the technology meets the requirements of comfortable lighting and is environmentally friendly.

The great thing is that the development of LEDs is far from over - their qualities really shine when combined with smart home lighting.

In a nutshell, what are the qualities and benefits?

    • LEDs save high amounts of energy – up to 90% compared to traditional light bulbs.
    • Environmentally friendly lighting thanks to a high luminous efficiency (low wattage for high brightness).
    • Long lifespan thanks to their long life of up to 50,000 hours.
    • Immediate 100% brightness and no switch-on delay like with compact fluorescent lamps.
    • Mercury-free and therefore suitable for rooms like the nursery.
    • Adjustable light quality to suit individual preferences – with colours ranging from warm white to cool white to daylight white.
    • Great colour rendering of Ra 80 or higher, perfect for above dining tables, for example.
    • New designs thanks to compact, “invisible” in-build LEDs.

How do you find the right LED light for you?

LED bulbs have already proved highly successful in most areas where lighting is required. So, the next question is where exactly do you want to use your LED light? Whether you're looking for cosy general lighting for the living room or bright area lighting for the home office, we have it all: LED ceiling lights, LED wall lights, LED panels; for the latter, LED floor lamps and much more!

Read on for tips for each individual lighting category.

    LED ceiling lights

Rooms need basic lighting and ceiling lights have been providing this for years. LED lighting technology hasn’t fundamentally changed this, but it has changed you having to constantly climb up ladders to replace burnt out light bulbs. LED bulbs require practically zero maintenance. Do you want even more convenience? When buying, look for dimmable LED ceiling lights. With these, you can adjust the brightness of your new favourite light to suit all situations.

    LED hanging lights

Hide everything else away and put the dining table in centre stage! One tip for additional convenience: A height-adjustable and dimmable light is always great. If you get an LED hanging light with EasyDim, you can use a normal light switch as the this dimming technology is built-in.

    LED spotlights

A single spotlight on the ceiling can bring certain areas of life into focus. Multiple spotlights on the ceiling, on the other hand, illuminate the entire room. The advantage of individually adjustable LED spotlights is that you can ensure that the light reaches every corner of your room, no matter how many nooks or crannies you have. A small bonus tip for a feel-good ambience: Take a careful look at your favourite spots to sit in the living room – make sure that no bulbs shine directly there and blind you.

    LED downlights

LED recessed downlights not only provide proper general lighting (provided there are enough recessed spotlights); they are also modern and stylish. Tip before you buy: If LED downlights are installed in small rooms, they make them look bigger – this is because there is no additional light projecting into the room that would make it appear smaller.

    LED wall lights

Nothing highlights the design of a modern LED light like a wall light – at the end of the day, they are mounted at eye level. Do you want your new wall light to be more than just for show? Wall lights can come with a practical reading light above the bed. So, if you ever fall asleep and forget to switch off the light, it doesn’t really matter thanks to the technology’s long life and eco-friendly nature.

    LED floor lamps

There are classic LED floor lamps with beautiful lampshades on elegant frames and then there are designs that look so futuristic that you don't even think they’re a floor lamp. However, here we’d  like to shine a light on a specific type of LED floor lamp because it has so much to offer: The LED floor lamp for the office and study. In large companies, it can serve to massively reduce energy consumption which significantly helps the environment.

    LED uplighters

LED uplighters are the perfect light for your armchair. Firstly, all you need to do is stretch out your arm and switch on or dim the light from the frame (if you want the dimming feature, please pay attention to this when buying). Secondly, you can enjoy a flexible reading light that illuminates your pages better than any ceiling light could (note the reading light function in the product details). On top of all that (literally), the LED uplighter emits light upwards too which  provides additional room lighting, as well as dividing the space and giving your armchair its own little pocket of light.

    LED table lamps

What makes LED table lamps better than any other table lamp? Is it “just” the high energy savings? The long life span? The beautiful, even lighting? Well, yes. But it’s also the design! With LED technology, you can have the light source built into the design of the table lamp. Have you ever been astonished by slim, curved, futuristic light designs? Then you'll be blown away by our huge selection of LED table lamps.

    LED desk lamps

Hunched over books and documents until late at night? This is a whole lot easier with an LED desk lamp. LED desk lamps have an additional advantage, which sets them apart from all other desk lamps – you can change the colour temperature and brightness (please pay attention to this feature when buying). A single light can therefore emit a cool white light, ideal for working. Later on, the same light can easily switch to Relax Mode and illuminate the room with a dimmed, comfortable, warm white light – perfect for reading and even drifting off to sleep without a worry.

    LED panels

LED panels are placed in either plasterboard ceilings (with a separate installation frame) or grid ceilings (for special standardised sizes). Don’t have either of these ceilings, and don't want to install one? No problem. If you still want to use an LED panel, you can install or hang it like a normal ceiling light.

Why are we so excited about LED panels? They're a simple and stylish light source and turn the concept of “light” on its head. They're significantly different from point light sources, like traditional light bulbs. With an LED panel, the entire surface is illuminated, and in some products with an RGB function it can even be illuminated in different colours. It ensures even, bright and glare-free lighting, providing large-scale illumination with one of the most stylish lighting methods of our time. Tip for comfort: Remote-controlled LED panels are extremely convenient.
