Terho design pendant light with lime wood shade and opal glass The name "Terho" of this pendant light is the Finnish word for "acorn"; the lampshade of the pendant light is shaped like the fruit of an oak tree. It consists of a cap made of lime wood and an opal diffuser made of hand-blown Glas. Terho is also a stylish furnishing element when switched off and provides soft general or table lighting when switched on. Terho was designed by Maija Puoskari, a Finnish designer with a studio in Kallio (Helsinki), whose passions include fishing, mushroom picking and campfires. The design of the pendant light is also inspired by a natural model. Puoskari focuses mainly on light and interior design and also designs tableware collections for international brands. In 2016, she was nominated for the Nordic Design of the Year Award. Her work has also been on display at the Kunstgewerbemuseum in Berlin since 2017. The furniture and lighting manufacturer Mater works with both established and young designers and combines exclusive high-end products with working methods that focus on local craft traditions, people and the environment. The aesthetics of the products make clear reference to Scandinavian minimalism - beauty in its purest form.
