If you’re looking to add a little sparkle and beauty to your home, there’s nothing more captivating than simple, stylish fair lights. No matter what time of the year, fairy lights will make your home the cosiest and coolest place to be.

When should you decorate your home with fairy lights?

Fairy lights not only look beautiful, but they’re eye-catching too. This is why they’re perfect for the whole year, not just for celebrations (like Christmas). Of course, some models are only suitable for a specific time of year, (e.g. cordless fairy lights for Christmas trees), but most fairy lights are wonderfully neutral and look delightful no matter what time of the year it is.

How do I install a light chain inside?

Most fairy lights are operated either by a plug or by battery. This means they can be used almost anywhere indoors. If you want to attach them securely to a wall or ceiling for decoration, double-sided adhesive tape is usually sufficient because of their relatively light weight.

While for rough surfaces, single nails or screws are recommended to hold the fairy lights in place. Other options include staples or nail clamps.

When attaching fairy lights to a Christmas tree, it’s recommended you switch ones that are cordless and operated by a battery so they can be placed freely on the branches and easily repositioned.

Fairy lights can be used to decorate anywhere as they’re easy to assemble and need few accessories.

Wireless LED light chains are recommended for the Christmas tree, powered by AA or AAA batteries.

Can indoor fairy lights also be used outdoors?

In short: No.

Indoor fairy lights aren’t suitable for use on terraces, balcony’s or in the garden. There are special fairy lights for outdoor use. The difference lies in the higher protection class (IP44) of outdoor fairy lights.

This means they’re protected against splashing water and solid foreign bodies greater than 1 mm so that they can withstand adverse weather conditions, especially in autumn and winter.
