Once the Englishman built ships, in his adopted country of New Zealand he has become a designer who is known beyond the country's borders and has won many awards. Trubridge gets the inspiration for his works from the nature of the New Zealand island landscape. He uses only sustainably sourced materials for his lamps, such as the bamboo veneer with which the shade of the Koura hanging lamp is constructed. The large drop shade is composed of numerous individual parts. A striking feature is the wheel-shaped element at the opening of the shade, which creates a great shadow effect when the lighting is switched on. The luminaire is shipped flat to help reduce emissions during shipping by reducing the volume of the assembled luminaire. Detailed assembly instructions are included for easy assembly.
