Hand-pleated 101 designer pendant light made of paper with an LED bulb
This pendant light is a beautiful designer piece, which has been stylishly hand-pleated and provides an atmospheric light and a distinctive style thanks to its unique appearance. The pendant light was designed in 1944 and therefore can be described in all honesty as a classic designer lamp. Since they are made by hand, every product is unique, and must be handled with care to ensure that the light can be enjoyed for a long time and does not get damaged.
The designer lights produced by this Danish manufacturer have a long tradition. The first pleated lampshades, which are seen as the hallmark of the company to this day, were already being produced by the well-known family of architects at the beginning of the 20th century. The company was officially founded and the first shop was opened in 1943. The shop can still be found at the same address in Copenhagen to this day. Over the course of the next few decades, a number of other models with a designer character and a good recognition value were developed in collaboration with other architects and designers, but the classics from the 1940s are still amongst the lighting manufacturer’s best-selling models.
Le Klint sees itself as a modern manufacturing company with strong connections to traditional craftsmanship, as the lampshades are still hand-pleated in the production facilities in Denmark. This is because, in spite of a great deal of effort, it has not been possible to develop a machine that can meet the quality requirements of the characteristic transverse pleating technique.
