The outer body of the robust and high-quality LED outdoor ceiling lamp In Vitro by Philippe Starck from FLOS is made of die-cast and extruded aluminum. Inside is a clear borosilicate glass body that looks like it should protect the bulb. But what was once used as a protective glass for the bulb is now only a decorative accessory, because In Vitro is equipped with permanently installed LEDs, which are located in the upper part of the lamp behind an opal diffuser.
