Oluce Semplice - dimmable table lamp, copper

Design table lamp Semplice by Sam Hecht This table lamp cannot really be described as "semplice", i.e. simple, inconspicuous or artless, because although it may appear simple and above all unadorned at first glance, it is by no means without sophistication or remarkable details. The sophistication undoubtedly lies in the fact that this model does away with the conventions of a table lamp. A table lamp does not necessarily have to have a base and an arm topped off with a lampshade. No, it can also do without these attributes. This is demonstrated by Semplice, a table lamp created by designer Sam Hecht in 2013 for the traditional Italian company Oluce. Semplice gives the impression that it consists of a copper-coloured metal shade that appears to float a few centimetres above the table surface as if by itself. This effect is made possible by the transparent, hand-blown glass that extends from the copper shade to the table surface. Another ingenious feature is the integrated dimmer, which is not only functional but has also been aesthetically incorporated into the design. The rotary knob is located on the top of the light and is also finished in copper. This makes it a natural part of the table lamp's design.
