Paper table lamp Samurai made by hand - with dimmer
The table lamp Samurai is a unique piece made by hand. With its expansive body, it has a fascinating, captivating effect on its beholders and almost looks like an animal standing there with two legs and stretching its two feelers up. The body made of paper is lit up from the inside, showing the unique surface structure of the paper to excellent advantage.
Inspired by the works of the Japanese American artist Isamu Noguchi, Ingo Maurer and Dagmar Mombach designed the lighting collection “The MaMo Nouchies” - a name coined from the three names Maurer, Mombach and Noguchi - in 1988. In his time, Isamu Noguchi designed handmade table lamps, floor lamps and ceiling lights made of Shoji paper - the Akari Light Sculptures. Maurer and Mombach did the same thing and brought out a collection of organic-looking lights which are made of elaborately processed paper. The paper lights are created by hand in Munich; up to eight steps are necessary for this. The thin paper is brought into the desired shape by folding and pulling it.
Samurai is delivered with a cord transformer with a slide control for regulating the level of brightness.
