Looking for an answer? Our FAQ section is the fastest place to get help. You will find answers to many topics, including payment options, returns, ordering process and technical questions.
You can return item(s) free of charge within 60 days of receipt of your order. Please use our returns portal to progress with the return and follow the simple instructions.
Please make sure to return the goods in full and, where possible, in the original packaging. Should you not have the original packaging to hand, please use a suitable alternative.
We would appreciate it if you would let us know the reason for returning the goods. This will help us to improve customer satisfaction with our services.
Once we have received your item(s) it takes 3 to 5 working days for the money to be visible in your account.
All our products are new items and come with a warranty of two years. The guarantee period starts upon receipt of the goods.
After you have found the light(s) or lamp(s) that you would like to order, enter the desired quantity and click "Add to basket". Your shopping basket will appear with the items you have selected. You can either carry on shopping, update your basket (e.g. the desired quantity) or proceed to checkout.
At the next step you can register as a new customer, so that when you order again in the future, you will not need to enter all your details again, or you can order as a guest. Afterwards you can enter your data, check your order once again, and then submit it.
Every parcel that leaves our premises is insured. We cover the costs for this - you do not need to pay anything.
The transport insurance covers any damage and loss up to the handover of the goods. In any case, you will receive a flawless, intact parcel. We will take care of the rest.
If you should happen to receive a damaged item, you will receive a rapid replacement.
As an online distribution company, we adjust and optimise our product range on an almost daily basis. New products are added, any products that are no longer available are removed. Our range comprises selected lights and lamps from a large number of manufacturers.
We are therefore unable to provide catalogues covering the complete range - by the time a catalogue has been printed and distributed, many items in it may be sold out.

The items on offer are new goods which have either been purchased in a particularly large quantity and therefore at a cheaper rate, or we have only a limited number of items left available and they are being sold off at a reduced price.
Unfortunately, we're unable to offer payment via invoice at the moment.
Not all lights come with light bulbs included. Whether or not they are included is always stated in the product description on our website. If light bulbs are not included, you can select a suitable item from the recommendations list entitled "Please choose a light bulb". Please note that some lights are available in several different models, which may require different types of light bulbs. So make sure to check the product description of the relevant model carefully.
You will also find an extensive selection of different light bulbs in the light bulb category and can, of course, add these to your order at any time.
We normally do not provide mounting fittings with our wall or ceiling lights as the local circumstances can vary greatly. As a general rule, you will need wall plugs, screws and possibly washers to mount the lights. For hollow ceilings we recommend toggle bolts.
If the lights need to be installed or a special mounting system is required, then corresponding instructions are normally included. In the case of special lights, we recommend that you have them installed by a competent tradesman.

Of course. However, it would be useful for you to take a look at our online shop beforehand and ask yourself some questions, such as: What colour, material, size and shape should the lights have? What purpose should they fulfil? Should they be purely functional and, for instance, provide good light to work by? Should they have a light control/dimmer switch? Do they need to be energy-saving? Do I want an exclusive designer piece which will stand out in my home? We will be happy to give you competent and targeted advice and help you with any technical questions relating to topics such as installation and assembly, whether the lamp can be dimmed, suitable light bulbs and accessories, colours of light, etc.. Business customers, whether with modest or substantial lighting needs, are in the best of hands with our qualified employees! Orders of €99 or over to the Republic of Ireland are shipped free-of-charge. The same delivery charge applies whether you order one item or several. Further information on our shipping and handling charges can be found on the delivery costs page.
Our lights and lamps are shipped reliably and securely by DHL. In the case of bulky items or pallet deliveries we ship with DHL Freight. Our parcels are only handed over after the recipient has given their signature. Each shipment is insured against loss or damage in transit. It is unfortunately not possible for the courier to deliver at a specific time of day or on a specific date. If you are not at home during the day, please provide us with an alternative delivery address e.g. your workplace or your neighbours etc.

Conventional transformers consist of two coils wound around an iron core. The iron core is made of thin metal sheets that are insulated from each other. The transformer starts to hum when magnetic fields cause the metal sheets to vibrate. Electronic transformers function differently and usually only hum when used with the wrong dimmer. In the case of electronic transformers, we recommend using an appropriate trailing edge dimmer, in the case of conventional (magnetic) transformers a leading edge dimmer.
Fluorescent lamps ignite with the aid of a starter only when a sufficiently high firing pulse builds up in the ballast. As this is rarely the first firing pulse, the starter tries to ignite the lamp again. Repeated attempts to ignite the lamp are perceived as flickering. Fluorescent lamps that are operated by an electronic ballast (EB) do not flicker.
Which light bulbs are the most suitable and economical for your particular needs depends on various factors, such as: How long is the light on for during the day? Does the light bulb need to be dimmable? Which colour temperature would you like? How bright does the light need to be? Is accurate colour rendering important? The following light bulbs are usually most suitable for long periods of use – CFLs, fluorescent lamps or discharge lamps. For shorter periods of use, and lights that are switched on and off frequently, halogen bulbs are more suitable. LED lights are an economical alternative for both long and short periods of use. Yes, if the base of the bulb is the same then you can replace the traditional light bulb with a halogen lamp. Halogen lamps produce bright light, are much more efficient than traditional light bulbs and also have a longer lifetime.
Most lights can be cleaned, yes. Light covers and lampshades can usually be removed and wiped with a damp cloth. Textile lampshades should be cleaned very carefully by removing the dust and then wiping them with a damp cloth. A gentle fabric cleaner can also be used. If you are unsure whether you can clean a light without damaging it, you can test it out on an "invisible" part or ask us for advice. Please note that stainless steel cleaner should be used to clean stainless steel lights. Whatever the type of light, make sure to switch it off and wait until the light bulb has cooled down before cleaning it.
Our lights usually have a plug that is suitable for German power points (either the German Schuko plug or the Europlug) and come equipped with an adapter for the Irish market. Unfortunately we are not able to offer and deliver the appropriate plug for every country. You may therefore need to use an adapter when using your light outside of Ireland or Germany. The EU Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) applies to most electrical appliances that are operated by electricity or that use electromagnetic fields. Examples of electrical appliances are ventilators, gas discharge lamps and other light bulbs. According to the WEEE regulations consumers are required to dispose of old light bulbs and electrical appliances in a proper and environmentally-friendly manner, which means taking them to a local collection point or recycling centre. Products which fall under the WEEE regulations can be identified by the symbol shown here. Lampenwelt GmbH is also registered with the EAR (Register of Old Electronic Equipment) under the WEEE registration number DE 63952051. The obligation to take back old electrical appliances, in accordance with the WEEE directive, is taken care of by our partner take-e-way.
AEO relates to a certificate issued by the customs office and stands for Authorised Economic Operator. Lampenwelt has been awarded this certificate and is thus deemed a particularly reliable and trustworthy company based on the following criteria: Adherence to the customs regulations, a satisfactory accounting system, financial solvency and appropriate safety standards. The introduction of the AEO certificate on January 1 2008 was triggered by continued globalisation and changes in the international security situation. The AEO system is a security concept that is implemented throughout Europe and which fulfils the framework requirements set out by the World Customs Organisation (WCO) for modern, effective risk management in the customs administrations.
Lampenwelt is registered with a corresponding collection system via the service provider Susa Solutions GmbH and thus complies with its obligations arising from the EU packaging regulations. Lights.ie has simultaneously contractually obliged its suppliers to likewise adhere to the corresponding requirements.
